Giving to St Jude's
We have a responsibility to everyone in Englefield Green; we believe that St Jude’s Church benefits the quality of life in the village.
All of our income comes from the local community. The bulk of it is from the regular giving of our members; the remainder comes from collections at concerts and occasional services , one-off donations for special purposes, fees from weddings and funerals, and payment for room hire.
Making a regular financial commitment
There are two methods
Our preferred method is by using a monthly or quarterly standing order through your bank. Download a Standing Order form here which includes the details of our bank account. You can then either complete this form and send it to your bank, or use the information on the form to set up the order online
Our envelope scheme allows you to donate each week by cash or cheque, even if you are not in church. For a set of envelopes contact Brian Hooker, our Treasurer.
If you are a UK taxpayer, then whichever method you use, St Jude’s can reclaim the tax you pay for each year. For us to do this, you must fill in a Gift Aid declaration which can be downloaded here or from Brian Hooker. When you have completed the form, please give it to Brian.
Making a one-off donation
At concerts and main services there is an opportunity for this, giving either by cash or by card payment. Again we hope that UK taxpayers will allow us to reclaim tax by using one of the Gift Aid envelopes or completing a declaration available online.
If you would like to make a donation to St Jude's, you can pay directly into either of the Church's bank accounts:
CAF Bank Account name - St Jude's United Church - Sort Code 40-52-40 - Account 00013020).
NatWest Bank Account Name St Jude's Parochial Church Council - Sort Code 60-07-33 - Account 02317990
Alternatively you could send a cheque payable to St Jude's Church to the Treasurer, Brian Hooker, 11 Willson Road, Englefield Green, Egham, Surrey TW20 0QB.
From time to time we hold appeals for a particular purpose – most recently for repairs to our tower clock and the organ. Watch out for the next.
A gift in your will
You might consider including a legacy to St Jude’s in your will. An excellent source of information is at www.churchlegacy.org.uk.
Our commitment to you
The details of your giving will remain confidential.
We aim to use your gifts wisely and prayerfully.
Your time and your prayers are gifts to St Jude’s as well.
We publish accounts with our Annual Report, presented at our Annual Meeting, usually in April/May , which gives an opportunity for discussion. If you would like the latest Report, ask Brian. It can also be found on the Charity Commission website, as St Jude’s United Church, Registered Charity 1169401.
