St Jude's United Church
I thank my God every time I remember you. (Philippians 1:3)
We are delighted to tell you that services in St Jude’s Church, Englefield Green resumed from Sunday 6th September.
It is a rather different pattern of worship for us, at least for the time being, and our online service, available each Sunday on our YouTube channel, will continue at least for the foreseeable future.
Here is the pattern for September/October
SUNDAY 27th Sept 9.30am Holy Communion in Church (Live Streamed on You Tube)
SUNDAY 4th October 9.30 am Family Friendly Holy Communion in Church
(HARVEST FESTIVAL- live streamed on YouTube)
SUNDAY 11th October 8.00am Holy Communion in Church
9.30am Service on our You Tube Channel
SUNDAY 18th October 9.30am Holy Communion in Church (live streamed on YouTube)
SUNDAY 25th October 8.00am Holy Communion in Church (live streamed on our YouTube channel)
9.30am Service on our YouTube channel
Sadly we cannot hold Junior Church for a little while to come.
Each service in church will be only 30-40 minutes in length. We can use only a limited amount of seating because of the rules of social distancing. Seats will all be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. As our numbers are limited to a maximum of 30 people, those attending will need to be there in good time. Please do let Judith know if you are willing to help by acting as a guide to people as they arrive. Thank you!
Entrance to St Jude’s will be by the main north-west door and exit by the Monsell Room door. All members of the congregation will need to wear masks (unless you have a medical exemption) and to use hand sanitizer on entrance and exit. Masks may of course be removed in order to consume the host during a Holy Communion service. Those reading or leading prayers will be able to remove their masks whilst they do so. The person conducting the service is not required to wear a mask but Judith shall wear a mask when bringing the wafer to you. In line with current Church of England guidance wine will not be distributed at present.
Sadly, we are unable to sing, but Geoff, Guy and Chloe will help us to continue making music a real part of our worship. Guy will generously continue to produce our YouTube services, including the two services which will be directly streamed from inside St Jude’s.
We know that this is probably very far from the return to church for which we may have hoped. We am aware that some of you may not feel able to come back at this time. But this is just a small beginning and we continue to hope and to pray that things will change in a positive way as time goes on. Meantime, our greatest priority must continue to be to keep one another safe and well. God be with you until we meet again.
In the meantime, please do visit our Facebook page, or our website www.stjudeschurch.info. There you will find details of how to access our online services.
Please visit our YouTube channel here and subscribe so you will be notified of new new services and other content.
Do join us on Sunday from 9.30am for our online service. (Many thanks to Guy Bunce for this)
Our thoughts and prayers remain especially with our village community at this present time.
May God be with you all.

St Jude's Church has been at the heart of Englefield Green for over 150 years. The Parish is part of the Diocese of Guildford and falls under the Deanery of Runnymede.
As a 'Local Ecumenical Partnership' (LEP) between the Church of England and the Methodist Church, St Jude's became St Jude's United Church and has a joint Anglican and Methodist heritage. We therefore offer a diverse programme of worship activities to suit all ages, tastes and needs.
St Jude’s United Church is committed to safeguarding all those who attend this church, a copy of the Diocesan safeguarding policy can be found here. Further information about how to report a safeguarding concern or incident can be found here.
The church is also fortunate to have two separate church halls (The Village Centre in Victoria Street and the Church Hall in Bond Street), and the Monsell Room (a separate meeting/function room attached to the church). Please contact us if you would like to enquire about booking one of these facilities.
Further information about the Village Centre facilities and opening hours can be found here.T
