Please take this sheet home and keep it close by for the week ahead.
Almighty and eternal God, from whose love in Christ we cannot be parted, either by death or life: hear our prayers and thanksgivings for all whom we remember this week; fulfil in them the purpose of your love; and bring us all, with them, to your eternal joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
We pray especially this week for those living in Hollycombe, Kinburn Drive and King John’s Place
Sunday 10th November: REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY: O God of truth and justice, we hold before you those men and women who have died in active service. As we honour their courage and cherish their memory, may we put our faith in your future; for you are the source of life and hope, now and forever. Amen.
Monday 11th November: ARMISTICE DAY On this day of Remembrance, O God, we give thanks: for those who served on the front lines; for those who volunteered and those who waited anxiously at home; for peacekeepers and pacifists; for those who believed that the world could be a better place. We give thanks for those who were once enemies who have become friends and allies.
Tuesday 12th November: We pray for war-torn areas of our world today; for men and women who continue to serve as armed combatants; for those who serve as Chaplains to armed forces; for those who give of their care and skill as healthcare professionals in places of conflict and for those whose lives have been devastated because of the suffering and loss that war brings in its wake.
Wednesday 13th November: We pray for tonight's meeting of our Ecumenical Church Council. We give thanks for all who serve on the Council and for all who serve on its various committees. We pray for wisdom, vision and discernment in our decision-making and for unity and purpose as we begin a new chapter in the life of St Jude's.
Thursday 14th November: We pray for the Chaplaincy at Royal Holloway College and especially for the Revd Orion Edgar in the early days of his appointment as Anglican Chaplain there. We ask God's blessing on the College Evensong tonight as Orion is formally welcomed by the College community. We remember Orion's predecessor, the Revd Cate Irvine, in her new ministry as Vicar of All Saints, Leighton Buzzard and as Rector of the wider ministerial Team.
Friday 15th November: We give thanks for the life of Denis Hill, a long-standing worshipper at St Jude's, whose funeral took place yesterday. Please pray for Denis' wife, Pat and for their sons David and Stephen. We pray for all who mourn that they may find in God's love strength for today and hope for tomorrow.
Saturday 16th November: We pray for all our services tomorrow and for all those who take part in leading our worship. We pray too for our service at Birchlands residential home this afternoon. We give thanks for the staff there who make us so welcome and for the residents who will worship with us.
At all our Church services we pray for those who are sick, in need and for the bereaved by name. Please do let us know if you would like specific prayer for anyone, and they will be included on this prayer list.
