St Jude's in Spring

St Oswald Sowerby

The crossing of St Oswald Sowerby.  The church has a complex building history, from Norman times to 1902, and the central lantern dates from 1880, but the general shape is due to Lamb’s work in 1840.  Central altars suit Lamb churches well.  Sowerby is now a suburb of Thirsk, and must always have been prosperous.
