The consecration tablet of St Mary Magdalene Addiscombe. The church has a strange history: the founder, Maxwell Machluff Ben Oliel, was converted from Judaism to Christianity and became a well-known evangelical preacher. He asked Lamb to design the church, but then became a tractarian. Lamb died in 1869, and the church was not completed. Then Ben Oliel left, and the local Anglicans took the church over. So this plaque emphasises their loyalty to the Church of England. The tower was added in a different style later.
